Description
“Anti-homeless facilities”, sometimes referred to as “hostile architecture”, refer to the design and measures adopted in some cities or buildings to prevent homeless people from staying in certain areas or sleeping rough.
These facilities may include installing hard, uncomfortable handrails on benches or walls, or laying barriers in the ground, and installing pins and spikes on fire hydrants to prevent the homeless from resting or sleeping for long periods of time. In addition, some buildings may also use music, lights and water to drive away homeless people.
The implementation of these facilities has caused some ethical and moral controversy. Critics argue that the practice discriminates against and inhumane treatment of vulnerable people and does not address the root causes of the homeless problem. Solving the problem of homelessness requires a people-oriented approach, and instead of adopting a confrontational approach to dealing with homeless people, we should solve the problem through a more inclusive and caring approach, promoting social integration and development.
“Homeless, refers to some people in society because of lack of economic ability, no fixed house, no fixed place to live. They wander the city, beg or work as temporary workers such as coolies, and sleep in parks, under overpasses, and on residential stairs. Other names are street sleepers, homeless, street friends, etc.”
